PMIPv6 & MIH

Hello everybody, 

I am willing to optimize the handover procedure between LTE and WiFi using Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) and IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover (MIH) standard.

I found the PMIPv6 code on the NS3.12 (without MIH) and I found the MIH code on the NS3.3 (Without PMIPv6)

What should I do ?

Hi Emma,

Pray? Just kidding. Both modules are based on a very old NS-3 releases and they have not been reviewed for validity/proper functionality. 

The first thing I would recommend it to try and port each one individually on the latest NS-3 (ns-3.24.1). Then ask for a code review for each one (this is optional only if you want to get feedback from NS-3 community and wish to share the code).

Then combine the two modules in a single project.

Just a note here, current LTE module works only on IPv4. 

I think I have seen some discussions for IPv6 but not included in the main NS-3 tree.

So this might be an issue with PMIPv6 you want to use.

Hi Emma,

    Have you found a way to integrate PMIPv6 and MIH in NS-3?

    I'm stuck with the implementation of PMIPv6(NS-3.19) in NS-3.22.
