Hi everyone,

Mountain Lake still had a consistent 3 inches of snow and no bare spots or rocks this morning. It was really crusty and not a ton of fun in the beginning, though. If you can get there when things are softening up, it should be good.

And, I'm wondering- where is everyone's favorite place to park and ski up there? I'd been parking in the outfitter lot, but they had paved the path from there up to Blueberry Cottages this year. They don't have the road to Blueberry Cottages gated anymore, so in the future I think I would drive up there.

Cheers,
Katie

Thanks for the ski report!
I got to ski about 5 days. It was fantastic! I need a couple of rest days!

Trails to Ski

Based on that map, here are the easier trails I've skied:

Hotel side (East side) of Mt. Lake Road
A: Bald Knob, but access by: Hotel to J (Lower Jungle) to K Old Turnpike.  (Hotel > J > K > A)

On the Blue Berry Ridge Cottages side (West side)
Ideally, park at BB Ridge Cottages if the gate is open and road looks good. 4WD recommended. Or park at the Outfitters and walk up the road between the cottages (heading West) up to BB Ridge Cottages parking lot.

D: Golf Course road > E  White Dot Trail  (loop takes you back to Blue Berry Ridge Cottages).
B: Upper Jungle Trail.  You can take this to G and H but IIRC, H has a steep hill in the middle. You could turn that into a crazy long loop by taking it to the

Mountain Lake road past the Biological Station (about 2 or 3 miles past hotel).  There's a small pull off past the Biological Station.

War Spur trail ((north past the Bio Station).

Parking:
East of Hotel parking lot for Trail J (Jungle)
Trail Access (north of the pond about 1 mile.  Trail Access Parking

I put 3 red dots on some of the parking here.
