About time we move from spreadsheets to a proper accounting package.
So is avsap/any other FOSS package doing good somewhere in production,
where it is secure ( as in if I host it there is no data leak
anywhere) and it can be done on a standard 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04 or
similar distribution.

Regards
-Tarun
PS: Generous grants are available from E2E Networks for integrating it
with our billing processes, and we have no issues contributing all
patches under GPLv2/BSD license back to the mainline of code

I am not sure exactly what the context of this is. But as far as avasapdjango
is concerned it has been pronounced fit enough for general financial accounting
use by the CA and the businessman involved in advising on the domain aspect.
It is not yet suitable for a trading or manufacturing concern as the inventory
and production modules are under development. It is quite safe to use in
production and there are no memory or data leaks. It however needs a little
customisation depending on what it is used for. One concern has committed to
use it in the coming financial year, so if you require a final seal of approval,
that would only be forthcoming on 1-4-2011. As of now it is usable for any
organisation that does not do manufacturing or has to maintain an inventory.

We would be glad to provide all support if you wish to use it.

although we will be quite happy to do this without a grant, such money would
be useful to get people on the javascript/looks/ui end and to speed up
development. In case you have missed them the url for the code is:
http://bitbucket.org/lawgon/avsapdjango/ and the url for the demo site is:
http://avsapdjango.greenchilly.in. If you require a login to play with the
demo please contact me offlist.

Features currently available: voucher entry, custom vouchers, ledgers, journal
and trial balance. P&L account and balance sheet have not been implemented yet
as we are doing the manufacturing and inventory modules first. However if there
is a demand for it, it can be done in a couple of days.

I would be happy to contribute in UI side. We are not really good with
python/django stuff, but we can really do good with css/html/ajax and
web standards.

I have gone through the demo site and realize, we can really put a rich
UI, that would make it more usable.

Thanks
