Climb aborted at 2nd ledge about 120 to 150 ft, the reason being
BEES. This decision was taken because before leaving for the climb I
was given specific instructions "SAFETY FIRST"
Good climbing route with bolts at intervals of about 12 to 15 ft. The
bolts are supposed to be the ones put by the Scot, himself, they have
the cast iron look even after all these years.
The bees are about 3/4 to 1 inch long, some were yellowish and some
reddish black.
Spectacular lead by our man Jai of 3/4th of the route to the second
ledge, the balance 1/4 route was done by me.
Excellent support provided by Vijay on the climbing front and by
Sujata one the Housekeeping angle.
Since Vijay and I are cooling off, I really missed our lead climber
Nova, who had to drop off last minute due to unavoidable
circumstances and in effect the entire lead depended on Jai (himself).
I am a little dejected that we did not summit, however this is not
one of the climbs I will look forward to, since the walk from the
Vehicle stop to the base of Scottish Kada itself was almost 2 hours
(and the load was killing).
I think Jai on this trip got some feel of leading pitches without top
rope and I think in the years to come he will be well known for his
style and flamboyance. This is the first time Sharad and Neerav were
able to get on a route of this magnitude and they seemed to do pretty
well.
I am not going to do any climbs until after the monsoon (if all is
well then), so I wish all you guys the very best for any of your
endeavors.
