Subject: Join Us in Supporting the People's Plaza - A Vision for Community Connection!
To:

Hi Everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. Recently, you may have caught wind of the plans to demolish the former school district office building at the Middle School. In late fall of 2023 the NP Superintendent and Board of Education (BOE) sought community input, in the form of a “contest,” on how to best utilize the soon to be empty prime location in town.

In response to this call, Matt and I came up with an idea that we are proud of and would like to share more widely; we call it: "New Paltz Peoples’ Plaza." Please take a look at our presentation to get a glimpse of what the New Paltz Peoples’ Plaza could be. We worked throughout December to develop our vision and submit it to the BOE by their Jan.1st deadline. Several weeks later, all 6 submissions were unveiled by the Superintendent in a quick presentation.

The BOE’s initial discussion on the proposals during their public meeting was brief. Members of the board mentioned adding more parking and leaning on the district’s facilities department and others for how they think the project should proceed. Rather than settling for a standard path forward,  we are proposing something that could be wonderful for New Paltz - a space designed to foster community connection and engagement, face to face, you know–the old fashioned way.

We've taken extra care in crafting this vision and Bloom's estimate was done at no profit on our end. This project is intended to be a break-even endeavor, emphasizing our commitment to enhancing our community at the best price possible.

If you find yourself resonating with the New Paltz Peoples’ Plaza concept, we invite you to support it by sending a quick email to the Board of Ed expressing your enthusiasm. Maybe if more voices are heard on the subject, we can turn this vision into a reality and have a new outdoor space to share. Also, please feel free to share our presentation widely within your circles, and if you have any questions or would like to discuss the idea further, we are more than happy to chat.

Let's come together to make the New Paltz Peoples’ Plaza a reality and create a space that truly reflects the spirit of our community!

All the best,

Thanks!
