I'm sorry to hear you're unable to connect your camera after you updated the Canon Camera Connect app. There is not a way to roll back to the previous version of the app. One thing to try would be to clear the wifi settings on the camera and try setting up a fresh connection. If the wifi settings on the camera haven't been cleared yet it could still be trying to connect to the old version of the app.
To clear the wifi settings go to the fourth page under the yellow wrench icon, select Communication Settings, choose Built-in Wireless Settings, and select Clear Settings. Once you've done that go back into Built-in Wireless Settings and enable the wifi. When you do that the camera will have you set a nickname. Make sure to add or change some characters so that the nickname is different from what it was previously. Once you've done that try reconnecting the camera and smartphone.
Based on what I'm seeing above the user had a nickname on his camera (SSPHOTO1) set, and a saved profile (SHANECAM-219_CanonOA) saved on his Canon Connect App which do not match. My recommendation would be to reset network settings on the camera and forget the saved profile on in the CC App and perform repairing.
If you are having the "same" problem it's likely related to the different names. I suspect however, your issue is unrelated. Because this thread is approx a year old, I suggest that you start a new thread with information about your particular situation, hardware, mobile device type, OS, etc. This ensures your issue get the visibility it deserves. Thanks in advance.
So I've had my 5D about for years and never really had an issue connecting via wifi from my phone. Controlling the camera from the phone and transferring photos to my phone from the camera both have worked fairly well with few glitches, usually just requiring a reconnect to the wifi. Today, it won't connect. Rather, it will connect to wifi but then when trying to use camera connect, it drops the wifi connection. I reinstalled the app. which didn't work. I did an update on my phone, which didn't work. I tried re-registering my camera in the app and now it won't get past the screen about reconnecting the wifi, although it says it's connected to the appropriate wifi. No next button shows up. Any ideas? Is this an update issue that still needs to be fixed?
Did you recently get a new iPhone? Each time I have gotten a new one, I've had to completely clear out the settings in both the camera itself and Canon's Camera Connect app. Then, create a brand new setup.
Deleted the camera/phone connection again in app and on the camera (3rd time), and re-connected it. This time it worked. No idea why it took 3 tries unless I missed a step somewhere that I'm unaware of...
I read your original thread and tried CameraConnect on my iPhone to see if it still worked. It did not. It's probably been 2 or 3 IOS updates since I last used it with both camera and iPhone hardware unchanged.
What did make it work was deleting Clearing All WI-FI Settings (Wi-Fi function, pres "Disp" tioget to General sett. and Clear Wi-Fi Settings) that deleted SET1 and then mating the camera with the iPhone again creating a new SET1. That made CameraConnect work again.
The firmware update last year broke my 5D Mark IV's wifi functionality. I've confirmed with Canon that they know the problem exists, as their tech support people were able to recreate the problem on their end. They went from we're working on it back in September to we have no reason to work on it in January. I have deleted, resetted, reinstalled, etc... And when the problem is with a bad firmware update, it's not going to make a bit of difference. Be aware, even thought they KNOW it's a problem on their end, they will still try to blame it on your set up , your wifi, your camera, your phone, etc... It's been a very disappointing awakening that they have already abandoned their DSLR users.
I'm sorry to hear your new photos are not showing in the Canon Camera Connect app. If you press the Playback button on the camera itself are you able to see the new images there? Also were the images show in JPG or RAW format?
Hi there!
I am having a similar issue to EmilyA1. The pictures I take are showing up on the camera and I have the phone and camera on the same WiFi, so they have successfully connected, but my most recent pictures are not showing up in the app to import (caveat: I've essentially just dusted off the camera and redownloaded the app after years of not using).
I would recommend that you first, reset the wireless settings on the camera. In the camera Tools (wrench tab) menu, select [Wi-Fi function], then press the [DISP] button. You should now see a general settings page. Select [Clear Wi-Fi settings]. I have attached a document to help walk you through the setup from scratch HERE.
The Metropolitan Police Department camera registry is a way to easily locate the cameras nearest to an incident during the course of an investigation, emergency event, or emergency response. In the past, investigators had to rely on eyewitnesses and piece together pertinent information over days and sometimes months. The camera registry gives private residents and business owners the ability to register their cameras in an online portal, only accessible with permission, for law enforcement to quickly and easily use this information to reference a map of relevant cameras that could contain actionable evidence for crimes and life-saving data.
The information you provide will be used by police to help us identify security cameras around the city. If a crime takes place near your home or business, the police may contact the representative provided on your notification form to arrange the transfer of the video from your establishment to the police department. The videotape or digital file may assist detectives in their investigation and it could become evidence in a criminal trial.
If you are a commercial entity (such as an office building, hotel, religious institution, multifamily apartment, or other large building) and opt to provide live feeds from your system, the CameraConnect DC program will securely link your cameras with MPD's Real Time Crime Center, allowing its authorized, trained users to monitor and assess the situation in real time. This new technology is fully consistent with existing District of Columbia law and best practice recommendations from a variety of different organizations. The footage is capturing only what occurs on public space and with the permission of those providing access.
The Camera Connect app is killing me. Anyone else have constant issues getting your camera connected to your iphone? I keep starting from scratch, deleting the app, removing the camera's wifi network and bluetooth connection from my phone, and using the app's "easy connection wizard". No matter what I do, I end up with a "connection failed" notification on the camera or the phone. It worked in the past, I've downloaded the latest version of the app, but it just won't connect now. Any ideas?
For what it's worth, seems like the stumbling block is the wifi portion of the handoff. I can link it via bluetooth and the bluetooth remote shutter works just fine, but as soon as I try to use wifi to either use remote live view or transfer photos, it tells me the connection failed. Ugh.
I just finished taking pictures of things with my phone that I am selling on the big auction site. I used a smart phone Arca Swiss phone adapter and a table top tripod and it was pretty brain dead compared to what I have done in the past.
Well, I fixed it. No idea why but switching the SD card in the camera suddenly cured all the issues. If i use my 128gb SanDisk card, it fails to connect (although it used to work). Switching to another SanDisk card (32gb) and it connects immediately and works normally.
Reformatting cured the issues with the card. Interesting, hadn't seen anyone with camera connect problems report that it was related to the memory card, so hopefully if anyone else stumbles on this thread this may cure your issues as well!
Oh my god you genius. Thank you so much I never even thought of that. I've been struggling with this issue for so long and I guess I must have damaged the SD card in my camera at some point. Swapping SD cards instantly resolved the issue.
I have this issue intermittently with the Canon Connect android app on an LG K92 5G phone. I use multiple M6ii and M200 cameras with the app and all 5 are 'saved' in the app. Sometimes the app recognizes a nearby camera that's turned out, sometimes it doesn't. I am sometimes surprised when trying to connect that the app connects to another camera in my camera bag or even in another room, even though the other camera is turned off! In this case you have to scroll through the list of cameras in the app and choose the right one.
Sometimes shutting down the app and starting it again, it recognizes the camera instantly, sometimes not. Once in a great while it fails to see the camera at all, in which case I have to go through the whole rigamarole of removing it as a bluetooth device from the phone, going into the camera, clearing wireless settings, and setting it all back up again from scratch.
The App is a huge failure. Ok i get it working eventually. Then the next time i have to go through the rig marole of trying to reconnect. I am i on android. I hope one day the people that wrote the app can make a more user friendly and simple app so its easy to get going. Eventually when the app does work its great, does what its designed to do.
