Thank for joining the Nate's Point Off-Leash Dog Park list, and for
supporting our favorite part of Balboa Park. We will use this list to
communicate events related to Nate's Point, particularly with regard to
the Park Improvement Plan.
We hope you are all enjoying the new fence! It turned out very nice,
and hopefully has saved a few dogs from running out of the park or down
the canyon. Currently, our available funds are just over $55,000
(thank you!), and we need about $70,000 to begin the main phase of the
upgrades. This next phase includes the drinking fountain, picnic
table, and the required concrete access improvements. With money
permitting, we will also run the electrical conduit to prepare for a
future phase of night lighting. If anybody is aware of a source of
funds or grants we could apply for, please let us know.
There have been rumors that the park service may start ticketing off
leash dogs outside of the fence (where the dog park technically
starts), so be careful if you're walking your dog in from the car
without a leash.
Also, one non-Nate's Point related item: If any of you use Fiesta
Island in Mission Bay to exercise your dogs, there is a new master plan
from the City that may reduce the area available for off-leash
exercise. Many people that use this area, including local
veterinarians, are firmly against any such limitation on access. If
