“The north magnetic pole, also known as the magnetic north pole, is a point on the surface of Earth's Northern Hemisphere at which the planet’s magnetic field points vertically downward (in other words, if a magnetic compass needle is allowed to rotate in three dimensions, it will point straight down). There is only one location where this occurs, near (but distinct from) the geographic north pole.”
In other words the Earth’s continuous atmospheric atoms will align progressively with the Earth’s natural and continuous N-S magnetic field. (Which is positionally distinct from the geographic N-S field)
For example if you take a magnetic compass progressively from the magnetic north pole to the magnetic south pole the compass needle would progressively align with the Earth’s continuous N-S magnetic field.
And at the magnetic north pole the needle would be vertically aligned N-S and at the magnetic south pole it would there be vertically aligned S-N.
The Geographic North Pole is positionally distinct from the Magnetic North Pole.
