The Lorentz transform states that an ether wind transverse to light motion reduces light speed according to the Lorentz factor.
This would be true if light were a motion of particles, but light is particles, so we can see that an ether wind inside the wave front cannot tilt the wave front, so the component in speed transverse to wave front is unchanged and the component inside the wave front is irrelevant. This follows from the wave model, and the Lorentz transform is in conflict with the wave model.

So, Lorentz was wrong and nobody listened to Miclelson's protests.
