Toinstall the HP 1018 printer with High Sierra I downloaded the file "HewletPackardPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg" from the Apple website (here: =en_US), I installed the software that was inside and then I installed the "HP LaserJet 1018" printer (which appeared among the printers connected via USB) using the "HP Laserjet 1022, 1.6.1" printer driver (shown among the drivers available after installation of the aforementioned software).

Unfortunately, when I put in HP Laserjet 1020, the HP website does not give me a driver to download. I am looking for a driver for Windows 10, 64 bit. You would think HP would adequately support their older, fully functional, printers!

Hi i have followed the advice HP have to go to win 10 and get drivers, but it is not working. could you just send me the HP laserjet driver 1018 and 1020 please. I have ended up going in circles and just can't get it to work. I have a wonderful HP1018 and it is working fine except when Win10 was re-installed they baselined and i lost the driver. i've been at this for hours! Please help!

This is so bad. When using the Scan Doctor and you try to Get Installer, it can't even find the page!!!! What are we supposed to do with our 1018 Printer? Just toss it because HP can't be bothered making the driver available? If I get a new printer, it sure won't be an HP.

I've gotten two old Ricoh Aficio 1018 laser printers in more or less perfect working conditions. These are A3 B/W office copiers from a long gone era, but since the are still looking good I don't want to throw them away.

The official Ricoh site has drivers for Windows, Mac and Windows Server, but for Linux they only have a "Unix Connection Utility" which requires a TCP/IP connection to the printer, which mine doesn't offer. Mine only has a parallel port on the back which I've connected an parallel->USB adapter to.

The real problem I'm having is that there are no official Linux drivers out there. I've checked the openprinting.org database and they only have the Aficio 1022 listed, but not the Aficio 1018. I've installed it as a 1022 in CUPS and it printed the test page just fine, both in A4 (letter) and in A3. Unfortunately any other page I'm trying to print, no matter if it is pdf, txt, or a website the printer is only producing garbage. It prints A3 pages with only a single line on the top with random characters, sometimes just one character alone..

Since the foo2zjs package exists in the official repositories, it would be ideal if it worked with your printer model. You should file a bug on the package explaining your situation and what you did to get it working. Do not forget to include the identifier of the device on the bus, ID 03f0:4117 HP, Inc LaserJet 1018.

Disabled mode is strongly discouraged; not only does the system avoid enforcing the SELinux policy, it also avoids labeling any persistent objects such as files, making it difficult to enable SELinux in the future.

I had a laserjet 1018 from my PC days and wanted to have it work directly with my MacBook Pro. Up until now I used the Laserjet 1018 with VMware fusion to print from a virtual PC running windows XP Pro.

Thanks, worked perfectly. Was convinced I was never going to get use of the 1018 again once I finally removed the Windows PC from my set-up. Had the Mac for three years and spent a lot of time (unsuccessfully) trying to find drivers to use the 1018 with OSX. This workaround was a much appreciated find! Thanks immensely.

This is a really nice success story! I own the HP Laser Jet 1018 printer for more than 10 years now. It used to be a nightmare to make it running under Linux. But this time the setup worked like a charm!

Assuming you have a recent Linux Mint, like 19.3 and having the printer connected to your computer via USB cable, all you need to do to setup this printer is to follow instructions on the official HP web page: What is the HPLIP Binary Plug-In and How Do I Install It?. In short you just execute this command:

This will run a very nice GUI wizard which will guide you and will complete the configuration with couple of simple steps! Nothing needs to be installed manually by you. In my case the command hp-setup was just available in Linux Mint 19.3 after installation.

This printer REQUIRES a downloadable driver plug-in. Use hp-setup to install the printer, and to download and install the plug-in. In general, required driver plugins are required for printing support. Driver plug-ins are released under a proprietary (non-open) license and are not part of the HPLIP tarball release.

14"Qt3" and "Qt4" refer to the supported UI toolkit. If "Qt3" is indicated, then the distro supports a GUI interface using the Qt3 UI toolkit. The Qt4 toolkit is not supported for the distro in this case. If "Qt4" is indicated, then the distro supports a GUI interface using the Qt4 UI toolkit. In this case, the Qt3 UI toolkit may also be available and used if desired. The appropriate UI toolkit will be automatically installed by the HPLIP installer.
