I must admit, one of the reasons I like ModPo is that I get to witness the magic of the classroom once again with Al and a half-dozen smart and friendly graduate students. But the quality of that magic is in itself remarkable. Difficult poems are given very generous close readings. (By "very generous," I mean I mean the readings are collaborative and fully human, not locked into a set of methodological goals like the New Critics.)
ModPo also has sessions with a half-dozen poets like Rachal Blau Duplessis and Bob Perman as well as clips which disclose more of PennSound's fantastic on-line poetry collection than I would have found on my own, and I've been looking for about two decades.
