In Chicago, dozens of  groups have called for a major protest at 5 PM on the evening that Obama announces the troop "surge" in Afghanistan. Since he is expected to announce this surge next Tuesday evening, Dec. 1, we anticipate gathering at

Federal Plaza,

Adams & Dearborn, Chicago,

on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 5 pm

A follow up protest will also be held at
12 noon, Federal Plaza on the Saturday
following the President’s announcement.

Join us there or organize your own wherever you are. Just be sure to let everyone know by posting your plans here.

As Debra Sweet, national director of WCW, has said, "No, these protests will not change the government's plans. They know the majority of people is now against the occupation of Afghanistan, and they are trying to change that by bullying their way through an illegitimate occupation.  The purpose of our protests is to reach the people! We must be visible, and send a message world-wide that there are people living in this country who say -- NO, not in our name!"
