Hello,

Before I jump into the install process, I have a small - naive ? - question

Can I install noVNC on macOS ?

Right now I can access my Mac server via the ScreenSharing app, that is from another Mac, but I would like to be able to access it from any computer via a Web browser.

In the server requirement it reads "WebSockets", pardon my noobiness but it is a bit vague to me (I thought this was a HTML5 component on the client side...)

WebSockets is a HTTP and Javascript extension, so it requires support on
both sides. So you will need a proxy that handles this (e.g. websockify).

websockify could be run on macOS, provided you can get Python running
there. It can also be run on a separate machine.

However the big issue is that macOS screen sharing doesn't properly
follow the VNC protocol. So we can't really guarantee that things will
work properly. You'll have to try and see.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.
I can access macOS via VNC with RealVNC. There is an option in macOS Sharing section to allow incoming VNC requests and it does not require any install on the server -  but the connection in not encrypted...
My current fallback for Windows machines is to carry a portable version of RealVNC on a USB drive...

Thank as well for your detailed explanations. Unfortunately this is beyond my skills. I regularly check the advancement of noVNC on a yearly basis hoping that one day this great project could become much easier to install for moderate tech people like me. In fact I guess i'd even be ready to pay a licence for a no brainer-install on macOS with a simple dmg file for the server lol!

Anyways, I guess i'll check again next summer !
