I am using Zen Desktop to manage users in a high school computer lab. I
have a policy to set students with roaming profiles using the following
settings:
Dynamic Local User
WinXP
Enable Dynamic Local User
Use eDirectory Credentials
Volatile users.
Members of Administrators.

My intent is to have a student login to novell, have winxp create a
temporary user on that workstation, then remove that user's records from
that workstation when he logs out.

I have four computer that were all bought at the same time, from the same
vendor, with the same software installed.
Three of the four do exactly what I expect. If I login as a student user
to Novell, I get to the windows desktop and have access to the software I
installed for All Users. When I logout, all of that user's records are
removed from the computer.
The fourth computer will not do that. When I log in as a student user to
Novell, I get a Windows login screen asking for a User and Password.
Actually, it defaults to the student's name, and asks for a password.
Because I haven't created a user for this student on the workstation, I can
not proceed.
The four workstations are all running WinXP Pro sp2
They all have Client 4.91 sp2.
The sp numbers for both XP and the client match on each machine to the last
decimal point.
They have the same software installed.
They are logging into the same server using the same login scripts.
I have looked through all of the Client settings and compared a working
machine to the recalcitrant machine and all settings are the same.
What am I missing or where should I go next?

DLU is managed via the ZENworks Agent, not the Novell Client.

I would recommend

1) Uninstalling the ZENworks Agent.
2) Rebooting.
3) Reinstalling the ZENworks Agent.

When installing the Agent, the most critical part for DLU is to make
sure to specify the correct Tree name for ZENworks to use.

You da man. Worked like a charm. Should have thought of it myself.

No problem :>

I have the advantage of reading just about every posted problem for the
last "too many" years :>
