Extremely had to say without looking at the actual appobject. Can you do
a file compare of the two?

Novell has a new enhancement request system,
or what is now known as the requirement portal.
If customers would like to give input in the upcoming
releases of Novell products then they should go to
http://www.novell.com/rms

Snapshot does not treat files with the .ini extension as "normal" files.
In a snapshotted AO you will find the .ini-files content under "Distribution
Options" -> "INI Settings".

If you want .ini-files to be treated like "normal" files you must rename
them with a different extension prior to the snapshot.

The INI Files can also be manually added later to the file copy section.

However, most folks prefer to leave them under the INI section.

Yes, because it is fairly dangerous to just copy an ini file. Using the
ini-section allows for more ranularity.

I have seen .ini-files with such strange syntax that they are not correct
snapshotted. In those cases you must distribute them as "normal" files. It's
like the WIKI says "The INI file format is not well defined":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INI_file

Yes. That is true. Some app vendors have created their own ini-syntax. In
that case you need to manage the file as an entity or use the text file
manipulation. The caveat of never copying ini-files mainly applies to files
that are shared between apps, such as win.ini and system.ini

You can import an ini-file as a whole: Distribution options,
Ini-settings, File, Import, change type to INI-files

Have you tried another file? Ie it will not open "illegal" ini-files, ie
files that have nonstandard syntax.

OK. So it is this one that ios malformed.

No. That is not what is supposed to happen. Normally Snapshot picks up
changes to ini-files.

And I just tested this with Snapshot from ZFD7 (Snapshot 6.5.0.0). It
picks up changed ini-files as individual key changes, not he whole file.

Yes. That was going to be my next suggestion. What app is this? Can you
zip up the ini-files and mail them to d a l t o n AT p e d a g o DOT f
i ?

In that case, treat it as such. Ie just create an appobject that copies the directory:
http://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks7/dm7admin/?page=/documentation/zenworks7/dm7admin/data/a7zexwk.html

"Select Copy directory to copy the directory to the workstation. When you select Copy directory, the Include subdirectories option becomes available. Click the Include subdirectories check box if you want to copy the subdirectories of the directory listed in the Source directory field."
