Michael,

it's the server that your client has contacted to read that object from
eDirectory...

Nothing AFAIK. It just pulls the files off it.

Novell has a new enhancement request system,
or what is now known as the requirement portal.
If customers would like to give input in the upcoming
releases of Novell products then they should go to
http://www.novell.com/rms

I have always assumed that that is the Schema Extensions if they are
not already there.

Michael,

copies zen files to public, adds "zfdstart" to autoexec (on netware) -
I don't see much else happening

Michael,

hmm... you can't have studied ZCM10 very carefully if you can make that
statement :)

Well, there is ;) The good thing is that yo can run ZDF and ZCM in
parallell, no need to switch cold turkey.

Think Walkman Cassette player (ZDM) vs IPOD. (ZCM)

They both perform the same basic functions, but ZDM has its roots in
code written in the early 90s for Windows 3.x

Novell a look at all of the functionality of ZDM and rewrote ZCM to
include most of those features and many new features, but how it
operates is completely different just like the Walkman and IPOD are
drastically different despite both being products to provide you with
portable music.

The hardest thing about ZCM for ZDM Customers, is trying to not make ZCM
work like ZDM did.

Beta.Novell.Com should have a Release Candidate for 10.3 very soon.
(This week I am hoping)
If you have not started with ZCM yet and wanted to take a quick
look-see, that would be a good place to start.

Just realize that Betas cannot be upgraded to production so don't go hog

Michael,

it's a fantastic product in its scope, it just had a few... rough edges
to begin with

to be fair, my day job is working for Novell support, so I'm not going
to get many opportunities to deploy :)
