Localhost login screen

Hi, I just bought a little magazine called intro to Linux that came with
a free copy of suse linux 10.1 complete.
a free copy of suse linux 10.1 complete.
During initial installation it asked for hostname etc. For hostname, i
put localhost and domainname i put site. After everytihng was finished
and it rebooted, i get this screen that looks like do writing so to speak
and it askes for localhost login. I put a login and password in but then
it shows "mjohnson24@localhost:~>". can someone help me as to how i get
past this screen please?
