I am trying to update Samba from 3.0.14a-4.1 to 3.0.23d-5.1.39 by RPM in
SuSE 9. When I try to update the samba-client first with the command:

rpm -Uvh samba-client-3.0.23d-5.1.39.i586.rpm

i get this error: file /lib/libnss_wins.so.2 from install of
samba-client-3.0.23d-5.1.39 conflicts with file from package
samba-winbind-3.0.14a-4.1

If I try to update winbind I get an error saying I need to update the
samba-client first. Is there a step I am missing in the update process or
is there an easy fix for this?

Thanks.

Try putting both rpm's on the rpm -Uvh command line.

So I should update samba-client and winbind on one command? Does it matter
in which order they are listed and should I also throw the main samba
update itself into that command?

Thanks

I got it figured out. I had to run samba-client and samba-winbind on one
command and then I ran samba and samba-vscan on another and it appears to
be all updated now.

Thanks.
