Problems with HP Compaq nx7400 laptop

Hi everyone
I have a HP Compaq nx7400 dual core centrino laptop. And i have trouble
installing SLED 10. The laptop has a 80GB SATA disk, and the setup
detects the disk as /dev/sda. The setup copies the files to the disk,
but when the laptop reboots, the GRUB loader is messed up - it just
displays GRUB =A|=A|. When I hit ENTER, I get the message " Non
system disk, please replace and hit return to continue"
I have tried the recovery process, but the bootloader keeps failing.
I'vve tried LILO and GRUB, but nothing works.
Can you please help?
