I've installed SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 10 SP2 on my i386
Machine. Upon successful installation, I added /sbin/ to my $Path
environment variable. Next, I added the following to my installation
source using Yast.

http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/repo/non-oss/
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/repo/oss/

When I was trying to install OpenOffice. It got installed, but after
that my Gnome Desktop environment wasn't working well. I rebooted the
machine, and then I don't get the GDM. When I typed gnome in the
terminal. I get the following error:

/usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_hash_table_ref

I've installed SLES 4 times now, and everytime on installing open
office. I get the same thing. Gnome desktop environment doesn't turn
up at all. I've used Ubuntu, Debian, but never faced such a problem
with Gnome. Need inputs from the community to resolve the issue.

Ankit,

Your message was not posted to the official Novell news
server or crossposted to a non novell.* newsgroup.
While your news server might show the Novell support
newsgroups, Novell has no official connection with other news
servers, and the message you posted will probably never
propagate to the official Novell server. The SysOps only see
messages on the Novell server and for that reason,
you will probably never get a reply to your
message posted here.

I suggest you post your message directly to the official
novell news server named support-forums.novell.com. The
Novell news server is freely accessible both through HTTP
and NNTP. See http://support.novell.com/forums for details.

This message was posted automatically. Please do not reply

Thanks Marcel.

By the way, I finally installed openoffice by downloading the
respective rpm installable from the OpenOffice website, and installed
the same using the package manager. It's working fine now.
