Thanks for your time,

Not yet - there is a Novell Client for Linux scheduled somewhere around the time of OES.

This is not an "official" Novell supported client - notice the "Novel" spelling - while it "works" - it's simply a front-end for ncpfs, and I don't consider it a "replacement" for Client32, thus my statement. Perhaps I'm too picky though <g>.

Juan:
There really isn't any "Cleint32" for Linux. The product team for Novell
Linux Desktop is currently working on some things to bring some parallel
functionality to what Client32 provides--things like native file system
acess, local user account management from the directory, and so on.
Some of these will be coming with Open Enterprise Server.

That is only a front end to ncpfs, and for some bizarre reason there's
no ncpfs on the SUSE 9.2 CD.
I can easily connect my Novell desktop to Microsoft servers via the
samba that Novell provide, but I can't connect my Novell desktop to a
Novell server!

Don't get me started <g> - it is actually on the 9.2 DVD, and for NLD it's
in the Red Carpet channel.
I have no idea why it was put on the DVD for SuSE and not made easily
available!

I have no idea which 9.2 DVD you have, but it doesn't appear to be on
the one I've got here.
pc:/media/cdrecorder # cat README

README on SuSE Linux 9.2 2004/10/14
Installation
============
If you are installing SuSE Linux for the first time,
please do take a look at the README in the directory docu.
!! Important: Please read the section about partitioning; !!
!! if not, you risk losing data ... !!
pc:/media/cdrecorder # find . | grep ncp
pc:/media/cdrecorder # find . | grep novell
pc:/media/cdrecorder # find . | grep ipx
pc:/media/cdrecorder # find . | grep novel
pc:/media/cdrecorder #
Nothing. No ncpfs RPM, nothing with ncp, ipx, or novel in their names
After updating this SUSE 9.1 box to 9.2, I have to say I'm fairly
dissappointed.
Xemacs *was* installed on the PC, but has now been deleted by the
"upgrade", and there isn't a copy on the 9.2 DVD.
X11 *including the headers and development libraries* was installed on
the PC. its also been "upgraded", but the headers and libraries have all
been deleted, so I can no longer compile X11 software.
Best of all, Novell don't seem to be able to let a Novell linux
workstation connect to a Novell NetWare server.

Well, it's on mine, so in my turn I have no idea which 9.2 DVD YOU have.

Well, I've got the "shipping DVD" from the lovely green SuSE case - like
Eric said.
The actual file is suse/i586/ncpfs-2.2.4-29.i586.rpm, and on my system has
even been updated to 2.2.4-29.2 through YOU.
