We are trying to create a SLED 10 image (to push out) using AutoYast.
We are deciding if we want to use eDirectory for user authentication or
just the local /etc/passwd file.

Our preference would be to use eDirectory, however, I need to know when a
user tries to login and the eDirectory server is down will it fall back
to some type of cached credentials on the users local disk?

ie: In Windows, lets say someone logs in via the Netware client. After
30 minutes or so they try to map a drive. If the eDir server is down,
it will fall back to cached credentials stored somewhere on the users
workstation. Does this work the same way on Linux?

Thank you,
Ryan
