The answer is always "log a support call" my answer is
Why log a call when we can even determine from Novell that it's either
supported or not.
Have been waiting for Novell to answer this for weeks now without success.

I had the same problem but solved it with a script file from idm3
I downloaded from Novell, can't remember where....
syntax was something like this!
sh SLES10-install.sh xxxxxx.bin
http://www.novell.com/documentation/idm/idm3_readme/data/idm3_readme.html
It did something with the bin file and after that it worked fine....
