NW 6 SP 3 server running NWFTPD 5.03.12.  A user that exists in a different context than the FTP Server context can login, but gets back a "directory not found" error trying to store a file in it's home directory, unless that home directory is in the FTP server context.  I've played with FTPSERV.CFG parameters DEFAULT_USER_HOME_SERVER, SEARCH_LIST, and DEFAULT_FTP_CONTEXT.  None of what I've tried has any effect.  When NWFTPD starts up it writes in FTPD.LOG "Default context where FTP users will be searched" and names the context the FTP server is in, no matter what I've put in any of those FTPSERV.CFG entries.  And even though it authenticates this user that exists in another context, it will not find the user's home directory when it's in another context.  I thought I was getting past this kind of problem moving form NW4 to NW6.  This server does not hold a replica of the partition.
