Hello, we just switched from ArcServe 9 to Galaxy 5.0. Overall I am very impressed with both the performance of Galaxy and the customer service. We used to back up 22 Novell servers and 3 NT servers on AS9, and it seemed that we had problems both backing up and restoring at least once a week.

We are now backing up the same 22 Novell servers plus about 3 other Novell servers, and also about 30 NT servers (a mix of Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and NT4). Currently we are only having trouble with 2 of our Novell servers. These two servers are our main file and print servers, and have many small files on them. The problem is with the amount of time that it takes to perform the scan on the servers before the backup begins. The actual transfer of the data to the tape takes no time at all. The CommVault staff has been tirelessly working with us on these two servers to resolve the issues.

Restores on Galaxy take no time at all, and so far, the database seems as solid as a rock....no more merging tapes to restore 1 Word document :)

Thanks Doug, appreciate the feedback. We're looking a cutting over to it
from an A/S - B/E environment.
