I'm having trouble getting imanager to install, first I couldn't find the
install link, and I had to post that question three times before it stayed
up long enough to receive an answer. The information I received was helpful
and got me over the first hurdle. Then I ran into another snag, the ports
typically used were already in use, please select another port number. Now
when I search for my name in the 'from' column, it doesn't show up at all.
How can I get an answer when my post doesn't show up, how do I know this
post will appear?

Use the NNTP interface. set up a news reader and things will be a lot
better.

Maybe you set your 'news' retention setting too low.

Tools | Options | Read [tab] should allow you to increase this setting.

I'm using Outlook Express 6. Under tools>options, on either the read tab or
the maintenance tab I don't find a retention setting, but when I look at
messages, I see as far back as November of last year, but my posts are
missing (except this one of course.) And this one is just about
communication in the newsgroup, not about solving the ip port problem in
installing imanager.
Thanks for your help

Well, as we sysops say internally, "get a real newsreader". :-)

In that case your local Outlook database must be corrupt, as I can
assure you they are all here and alive. You may want to completely
delete the news account in your OE, and resubscribe from scratch.

I deleted the account and recreated it, and now they do show up. Still
don't have an answer on the ldap port question, but at least I can see my
question and know when an answer appears.
Thanks

Jerry,

Check out: Tools> Options> Maintenance> Cleaning up messages
By Default it deletes read messages and downloaded messages after 5 days.

But why would that prevent them from appearing in the list when I refresh or
sign out and back in?
Thanks

By design. You might want to ask Bill about this.
