On a NW5.1 SP5 server that was upgraded from 3.2 to 5.1 SP3 before going
to SP5, the NDSMGR32 fails to load. Even under SP3 the NDSMGR32.exe
failed to load. I get an error message stating possible corruption or
invalid path.

I copied NDSMGR32.exe from another NW51SP3 server and it still failed to
load. If there a search path that needs to be added? Is there an
update I can download from Novell?

Thanks.

Scott,
I am unsure if the NDS Manager is still supported.
It is not for NW6.x, so you might want to try ConsoleOne instead anyway.

There is an old saying that if a million monkeys typed on a million
keyboards for a million years, eventually all the works of Shakespeare
would be produced. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know this is not
true.

Kai,

This is the Nw5 newsgroup and there's no mention of NW6 in his message <g>

Scott,

What's the exact error? It shouldn't need any extra path -- as a matter of fact, I run mine off the local hard drive ...

Yep..and ??
I mentioned that NDS Manager is not supported on NW6.x
Anything wrong with that ?

The difference between us and a computer is that, the computer is
blindingly stupid, but it is capable of being stupid many, many million
times a second.

PMFJI,

If it were me asking, I would get confused since something else was
added to the equation that did not belong (NW 6).

To extend the logic, why not include the fact that VAPs are no longer
needed? That NW 3.11 is no longer officially supported? That iSCSI can
be used in NW 6.5?

While these are all true statements, they have absolutely no bearing
upon the question that was asked, as it relates to the specific
information that was being sought.

Peter needs no one to defend him - I just wanted to express a
frustration from an end-user point of view. (Apologies for jumping in,
Peter!)

So IMO, there was something wrong with what was posted. Not "wrong" as
in "immoral" or "good v. evil", but "wrong" as in "incorrect". IOW,
what does NW 6 have to do with NDS Manager in NW 5.x? The same as NW
ELS, NW 2.x, NW 3.x, and NW 4.x - Nothing.

Respectfully,

- Duane

Duane,
what I was trying to point out was that C1 can be used as well.
Probably this was not obvious enough.
Anyway, next time I will explain more in basic simple and easy
understandable words.

Kai,

At least you aren't being condescending, eh? <g>

The point isn't that the words were too complex for our feeble human
understanding; the point was, "what does C1 and NW 6 have to do with DS
Manager and NW 5?".

I supposed this is enough on the topic in public. The chat room may be
the best place to continue this, if wish. After all, we are no longer
discussing the question originally asked.

Respectfully,

Hi Peter,

I can't remember the exact wording of the message, but I will get it on
Monday. ConsoleOne 1.3.6 works fine and I can use that if needed. I
will also take your suggestion and run ndsmgr32.exe from the local hard
drive, and I will let you how it works next week.

Thanks,

Scott
