If I had (3) - 36 Gb drives in a RAID 5 configuration how much actual space
would I have available?
Is there a "formula" for this? What about 4 or 5 drives?

Thanks,
Dan

72G less what might be used for the DOS partition and the standard 'what is
a Gig' sizing issues (as an example a '36G' IBM DRHS36D reports in NW 4.2
as 34,710.7 MB).

Yes, basically, S *(N-1) where S is the size of the drive and N is the
total number of drives.
