Does any know of any Backup software that will use a disk drive for the
backup media.
I want to backup each day of the week to unique file. ( just as though
I had 7 daily tapes).
I am using NW5.1.

Thank you

Arcserve 9.01 can do this too.

I believe ArcServe does this as well and BE 9.1. Note with ArcServe this
functionality has been around for a while, with Backup Exec this is new
with 9.1.

Well, with Arcserve it has been there in AS9.0, but wasn't useable, as
it had the dreaded 4GB file size limit for each backup job, which of
course isn't sufficiient. This is solved in 9.01.
What AS could do for years though is to run a copy job, copying data
from one place to another, but this is a slightly different thing.

NovaNet 9 has a plugin that lets it back up to disk as well.

OK -- good to know -- 4G is a real problem.

Ah -- that is what I was thinking of.

Thanks for the detail on this.

Caveat: Does not work (is not available) if you also have Shared
Storage Option installed. Also is not nearly as good as ARCserve, as
in you must create specific backup-to-disk folders and backup to there.
ARCserve is more like Windows Explorer in that regard.
