I have a Sony TSL11000 Autoloader, Netware 5.0, Arcserve 7.0. How do I or
can I setup my backup so that when the tape is full, the next blank tape
is loaded without manually loading it using the front panel control. Sony
says it's possible using Backup software. Arcserve FAQ says it's not
possible for an Arcserve 7 backup job to use a certain tape in a certain
slot in an autoloader. If that's true then exactly, what does an
autoloader do, because I have been manually loading the required tapes.

An autoloader does automatically switch tapes when needed, however you
need a combination of things designed to work together, including: a
driver for the autoloadeder and/or its controller that runs in your
operating system, and software that understands the driver and can tell
it what to do. In your case, it sounds like AS 7 may not be capable of
talking to this particular autoloader? Whether yes or no, I'd suggest
looking to CA and/or the autoloader manufacturer's websites for further
clarification on this -- CA supplies the software, drivers would come
from the hardware manufacturer.
