All,

We're running an NW5 server with an AIT-2 library (TSL-A500C/SDX-500C)
attached. We're using ArcServe v9. Here's the problem:

ArcServe is identifying and treating the tapes as AIT-1. We're getting
good compression and putting roughly 48GB on the tape. But when we
check the tape stats it shows the Density Code as SDX - 25/50 GB.

Things we've tried: Replacing the tape drive, checking the jumpers on
the drive, initializing the tapes (Quick Erase Plus), formatting the
tape.

We're at our wits end here because we're unable to get a good backup
within our manufacturing window.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Jay

What about looking for ArcServe updates? Given all of the above, the
software misinterepreting the info reported by the tape drive seems
like a viable culprit.

Brad,

Thanks for the thought, however we're current with all our firmware
and software. We've pried open the corporate checkbook and are now
working with CA for a resolution.

I'll post the fix here once we figure it out.

Thanks,

Jay
