Hi

I will connect a Windows XP client to a Oracle 8i database on NW5.1SP2a.
Since the 8i Client does not run however on XP, I installed the 9.2.0.1
Client.
But this Client does not support the SPX protocol any longer and the
listener is configured with SPX.
Should i now change the listener protocol to IP or ist there any other
solution, because I would have then to change all clients? Doesn't the 8i
client run under XP really?

Thanx
Marco

You can configure the listener with both protocols.

I am currently running the Oracle 8.1.7 client on my Windows XP professional
laptop with no problem at all. What kind of errors do you get with yours?

Of course, you cannot expect to tell Oracle to use TCP/IP if the host
itself is not setup to run TCP/IP.
