After I have changed the Listener from IPX to TCP/IP I have a very slowly
connection.
A normal ping to this server is o.k. but the TNSPING takes more than 540ms.
The server is nw5.1sp2a and the clients Win2kSP2 with all versions of
NW-Clients the same.
Any help would be appreciated
Marco
this may be a dumb suggestion, but have you tried to set-up the duplex
mode on the network cards and hubs/switches on your network? One my
customer had the same problem, which was solved by setting all
communication ports in the route from the NWserver to the clients
explicitly to 100Mb/s, full-duplex. Seems like the TCP/IP protocol is
more susceptible to the network problems.

Hi Martin
Thanx for your support but i've tested all setting (auto/man) on the cisco
switch with no solution.

1. If SPX is no longer needed, make certain that it is removed from the
Novell client's configuration and make TCP the primary protocol.
2. If SPX is no longer needed, make certain that it is removed from the
LISTENER.ORA file's entries.
3. If SPX is no longer needed, then remove it from the bound protocols on
the NetWare server that hosts the Oracle database via the INETCFG utility.
4. If the server's IP address is a static address, then use the IP address
instead of the host name in the TNSNAMES.ORA and LISTENER.ORA
configuration files.
5. Make certain that you are using the latest Novell client software.
