- You currently have a NetWare 5.1 host running the Oracle RDBMS.
- The version of the Oracle RDBMS which is on your NetWare 5.1 host is
certified for use with NetWare 5.1.
- You plan on using the same major version of the Oracle RDBMS on your
NetWare 6 host.
- You plan on using the same network protocols for the Oracle RDBMS on
the NetWare 6 host as those being used on the NetWare 5 host.
- All current directory paths used and volume names used by the NetWare
5 host's Oracle software can be copied to the NetWare 6 host.
This normally means the ORACLE_HOME directory structure and contents,
plus the structure and contents of SYS:\Oracle.
then, the following steps would need to be performed...
1. Shutdown all databases running on the NetWare 5 host.
2. Close or exit any SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader or Server Manager sessions
running directly from the NetWare host's console.
3. Shutdown all Oracle services (run ORAUNLD).
4. Copy the NetWare 5.1's SYS:\Oracle directory structure and it's
contents to the SYS volume of the NetWare 6 host.
5. Copy the NetWare 5.1's ORACLE_HOME directory structure and it's
contents to the same named volume on the NetWare 6 host.
(Example ORACLE_HOME value is "VOL1:\OraHome1")
6. Using the NetWare 5.1's autoexec.ncf file as a guide, update the
NetWare 6's autoexec.ncf file so that it contains a SEARCH ADD
entry for the location of the Oracle RDBMS software.
7. Update the following files to reflect any changes in network
host name or IP address or NetWare server name.
{ORACLE_HOME}\NLM\CONFIG.ORA
{ORACLE_HOME}\NETWORK\ADMIN\LISTENER.ORA
{ORACLE_HOME}\NETWORK\ADMIN\TNSNAMES.ORA
8. Restart the NetWare 6 server.
After all of this, the database(s) should be operational.
