Hello. I have a complex question about NLSLSP. Suppose a server abends and the cause is NLSLSP.NLM, does the module stay running in a crippled condition? or does the server force it to unload? And if it unloads it, since NLSLSP reloads automatically under normal conditions, does it then reload automatically after an abend and start functioning again in a normal state?

What I am ultimately getting at is this. Will an abend in NLSLSP cause all licensing processes to cease on the server until the server is restarted?

Thanks.

Unpredictable, as it depends on what problem in NLSLSP (or any other module)
triggered the abend. But a server never unloads a module because there was
an abend in it.

Andrew, thanks for your response. I have another theoretical question I would like to pose..

Suppose you have a large tree with containers for each server/location. If the licensing is not configured correctly for one particular location, and the server is failing to hand out licenses, Doesn't the client automatically search upstream in the tree until a valid license is found....

And lets say that over half of the servers in the tree have corrupt license objects.. So now all of the users in the tree are going upstream to try to locate a valid license. But the licenses at the top of the tree is has two problems.... a) not assigned to the lower level servers and b) not enough licenses for everyone anyway.. (These are not MLA licenses)

My question is this, could this scenario cause the server at the top (also Master replica of [root]) to abend on a daily basis in the NLSLSP module? Realize that with this particular tree, there is a lot of work to do (it's in pretty serious shape), but my client's main focus is getting the licensing problem/abend resolved before doing much else.

Thanks for any thoughts you might have.

No. If you are getting abends in licensing - I'm guessing this is NOT a
purely theoretical question, despite your disclaimers - you may have corrupt
licenses, or there is a bug in licensing or elsewhere.

Andrew, I guess you're right, it's not really theoretical. But I'm looking at a lot of different problems and I'm trying to figure out what exactly is going on and the best way to attack the problems. Thanks for your insight. I've opened a support incident with Novell to help.
