I have a Compaq ML370 G2 running NW 5.1 SP4 on a level 5 RAID. I just added
2 drives to expand our arrray and everything went fine. Last night the SYS
volume dismounted with the following errors:

Error writing FAT Table Vol XX_XXX/SYS to directory

Volume SYS Dismounted due to Media dismounted

XX_XXXX TTS Shut Down

The VOL$LOG.TXT file and Error Log in ConsoleOne didn't have any errors.

The knowledge base seems to point to a hardware falure, but the "Used Hot
Fix Blocks" are 0. Does this mean the drives are OK? Or do the "Used Hot Fix
Blocks" reset to 0 when the server is restarted?

How should I proceed with troubleshooting?

Certainly not! That would be an insane thing for us to do!

Start by doing a VRepair with options 2 + 4 ON. If it's OK after that you
should be cool, but plan to apply NW51Sp6 ASAP.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll do VRepair this weekend. And, if that's OK, I'll install SP6.

Anything special I need to know about running VRepair on the SYS volume?

Move VRepair and your name spaces to C:\nwserver so you have them available
when you don't have Sys: mounted.
