I'm using NetWare 4.11 and have just installed a secondary IDE hard drive
for mirroring purposes.

To create a mirror of the existing drive, I know to use INSTALL. The new
drive has been mounted and I believe is ready to go but the documentation
that I have read isn't very clear about which drive I am mirroring to which.

Device 1 is the blank drive and Device 2 is the existing drive that I want
to create a mirror of.

So from loading INSTALL, I select Disk Partition Mirroring Status, which
device would I select first? The one with the data I want to be mirrored
(device 2) or the blank one that is to be the mirror (Device 1)?

Yes, select the existing drive and press [Ins]. This will make it the
"master" of the pair. Then select the other drive, which must be
blank, that is, no partition(s).

First select the data drive, and second select the empty drive.

I tried to use a blank drive but the mirror option software says I need a
Netware partition.

I created a Netware partition and based on TID 10021667 made them the same
size.

I still get an error message that the sizes aren't the same so it won't
mirror.

I did set up the second drive with some data to see if the drive is working
properly. It seems to be and also passes the non destructive hard drive test
in INSTALL.

This is 4.11 with SP9 installed.

Set up the second partition to be just a bit larger than the first,
Then let the mirror process adjust the size.
