Hi there,

I do have a HP-Tape-Drive with 20/40 GB capacity.
However I am not able to Backup more then 20GB onto one TAPE.

I switched on the compression modus on the drive but still not more then 20
GB on one tape

Please advice
Benjamin

1) Your backup software must support the use of hardware-level
compression.

2) If your data is already compressed, as in NetWare volume compression
is enabled, and/or data is already otherwise compressed, such as ZIP
files, then there is no further gain to compression on the backup.

In addition to what Barry said, the compression status of a tape is
determined at formatting time. If you reuse tapes that are already
formatted, they will be used with the same compression setting they
were initially formatted with. You have to erase them if you want to
change the compression status of a tape.
