HI,

I am seeking some advice, I need to upgrade a v4.11(10user) netware server
to V4.2, due to having to upgrade backupexec to veritas backupexec 9.1
and the OFA.

I just wanted to find out if i just purchase the netware 4.2 media kit,
will I have any hassles installing this....( will I have any licencing
issues to worry about)

It has been a while since I have had to worry about an upgrade and just
wanted to check.

thanks for any assistance

David, you shouldn't need to upgrade 4.11 to 4.2 here -- instead, make sure
you have SP9 for 4.11/4.2 deployed (assuming this is the 'regular' version
of 4.11 and not the small business version).

If you did this, you would need to purchase the licenses as well.

Barry,
thanks for the reply, the server does have SP9 applied, AFAIK the it is a
regular version, though I am checking on that as I type.

just out of interest if the netware server is the small business version,
what options are open to me?

If it were IWSB 4.11 or NWSB 4.11, then the SP9 patch would have caused
some licensing problems.

With IWSB 4.11 or NWSB 4.11, typically I'd suggest staying with SP6a.

Then again, frankly, I'm not a fan of using BE 9.x on any 4x server -- I
prefer BE 8.5 there (though I don't use the open file option).

If it is a 4.11 Small Business version, then you build up a test bed and
patch it to SP9.

I have not myself tested sp9 against 4.11SB nor do I know anyone who has
specifically done so with the intent of making NLS work on it. We do see on
occasion people who've just up and done it and had it working fine for them.
