I've searched hoping someone else has run into this problem but can't
find anything.
We're running 3.2 with current patches with Centura SQL Server. All our
workstations
are Win95/98 and are working fine connecting to the database.
We now got in a dozen new computers doing something called "upgrade" and
they came
with Windows XP Pro Business Edition. I set up the client Novell and
logged in fine,
even runs the scrips OK.
I then went to the application that uses the Centura SQL database
and.....S.L.O.W.
It took two minutes to download a record that normally takes two
seconds. Of course
XP works fine and fast with NT sever. I went to Microsoft's site and
downloaded SP1
for XP and applied it.....still the slow problem exists.
So, what's wrong here ??? I asked another friend who ran into the same
problem and he
solved it by trashing Novell and going strictly NT. I hope I don't have
to go that route.
Any suggestions ??? Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
Don't mean to sound dumb here, but I used the Novell Services that is embedded
into WindowsXP. After a reboot it asks for the Server name, scripts, etc.
Should I try the Novell Client 32 4.83 and where can I get it from ? Thanks.
Joey
You can get the current clients from:
http://download.novell.com/sdMain.jsp
Note, for XP, you need the 4.83 client along with the SP2 update.
For Windows 9x you can download the current client, or, work with an older
version of Client 32 for Win9x (say 3.21 or something of that nature) by going
to one of the archive sites.
One other note, if you do go to install the XP client, you need first to
remove the existing client for NetWare from Windows XP.
When you install Client 32 (on either Win9x or Win2k/xp) for connectivity to a
Netware 3.x server -- use a custom install, make sure to install ONLY the IPX
stack, and uncheck features like NDPS support.

I was reading through the items needed to access a 3.12 server from XP Pro,
and wasn't sure if you were talking about a Windows service pack or one from
Novell, although it seemed too soon for there to be an XP SP2. Could you
elaborate on this? Thanks!
