Follow Barry's advice and go with old ISA NICS - or update your OS.

I'll be experimenting, as tyhe NIC's that I have in mind to try are only a
few bucks apiece. So, WHEN (let's try to be optimistic here) I find one,
I'll let you guys know, so maybe you could add it to your informal database
here.

Oh, as a side note, I had a PCI 10/100 NIC by Linksys, the LNE100TX that
actually had 3.11 - specific drivers - but it didn't work. If anyone is
curious about it, the type of LNE100TX was the one that has "LC82C169" on the
chip.

I guess what I'd suggest is NOT upgrading a motherboard to something that only
has 1 ISA slot -- if you are going with newer motherboard and CPU
combinations, 3.11 is REALLY going to start giving you heartburn.
Right, just jam those into a PCI slot <g>
