We have a small 3.12 network with Win98 workstations and one new Win2000 PC.
A simple system login script sets up drive mappings. The problem is that
the Win2000 PC does not process the login script.
We are using MS Client Service for NetWare on the W2k machine, client 32 on
the Win98 machines. MS client is being used based in info from the client
forums, particularly the file closing problems of Novel's 4.83 client.
Is there any trick to getting the MS client to read the NetWare script? I
can't find any option to process the login script..
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank You
I recommend that you use the Novell client software.
Install that, doublecheck the speed settings and you should be ok...
auto detect seems to have a few problems also..

I'd like to thank both of you for your quick replies. Your assistance is
really appreciated.

I found that with about 54 boxes running W2k in our small shop... that I
had to load the Novell client to ensure that ALL of the machines would run
the login script. about 20% would not run the script...sigh
What are you doing differently?

Hmm - your sample size is *much* bigger than mine <blush>. So presumably,
the problem is you have the CSNW tick-box to run the scripts, but it has no
effect?
[ That's just reminded me of a similar problem on CSNW on WinNT, where the
printer check-boxes didn't act after SP3(?), and you had to regress a DLL.
Don't suppose this is anything similar?]
I have 1 Compaq AP230 and 2 Compaq EVO-300's, but all 3 show the NIC adapter
as 'Intel(R) PRO/100 VM Network Connection'.
With Win2K so nanny-ish about these things, maybe it's connected (no pun
intended) with the NIC drivers? That might explain my success and your
partial success.

When dealing with Compaq, I have found that having ALL the drivers
available is necessary. We used to have about 20 of them... and there were
times I had to play musical drivers to get them to play nice. sigh...
I had one last week where I had to remove and install the NIC drivers three
times, but they've remained stable... unlike a couple of gateways/dells -
but I attribute that to the software [ aol ] that was loaded by the users.
