I have an sbs6 system

Is there any software (we use BackupExec 9.0) available to enable backup to
a disk ?

Tried Toolbox and copy but tends to almost lock up the server !!!

Well, Arcserve 9.01 can do it.

Go to http://www.portlocksoftware.com and look at Storage Manager.

I believe the newer Backup Exec (9.1) now supports backup to disk as well.

Novanet
http://www.network-backup.com/datasheets/overview.html
natively allows you to specify a local volume/path as a target. See
http://www.network-backup.com/datasheets/nnet8_disk.html

There is also an extra-cost option (Virtual Tape) that makes any disk on the
network look like a tape library to the NN server.
http://www.network-backup.com/datasheets/nnet_vtape.html

For differences between the extra-cost option and the free disk config
wizard, see
http://www.novastor.com/pub/docs/VIRTUALTAPE1/VTTechnical%20Overview.pdf

No idea how well they work in practice. This company does not have big
market share but by all accounts the software is well-received. It is pretty
much the same product as Yosemite Tapeware www.tapeware.com
