I actually have a SBS 5 installation which has two server. One is used for
Groupwise, file and print and appliucations, the other is for Border
manager only. I plan to migrate to SBS 6.X which raises a few question.

Can I install my new server (new hardware) in the same tree with a
different name and then move my data and applications?

Since my existing servers are both in the same OU, do I need to install
the new one in a different OU?

Can I upgrade my two existing servers in the same OU?

First query -- 6x? 6.01 (currently available) or 6.5 (which should be
available later this quarter).?

We plan to install SBS 6.0 and upgrade to 6.5 whenever it will be available

OK -- I take it the plan is to do this with new hardware and then do an in
place from 6.0 to 6.5.

Since there are two SBS 5.0 servers that makes it a bit more complicated.

I *believe* you can run SBS 5.0 and SBS 6.0 servers in the same tree --
though I don't think it is supported -- the typical move would be to use
the migration wizard which would be a transfer rather than concurrent
operations.

As you cannot upgrade from NW5 to NW6.5 directly that sounds like a plan.

If you are reorganising servers, you have two choices, either use the Migration
Wizard which will help move a server from one hardware platform to the new one,
or use the Consolidation Wizard which allows you to migrate data, printers and
services from one server to another.

I would however always reinstall BorderManager from scratch, after all that is
the system that is providing your security.
