I'm familiar with the old Netware 3.12 days when there was a "client for
Macintosh users" diskette, but now, how does a Mac (OS 9 or 10) store files
on a Netware 6 server? I saw where there was a company selling Mac clients
for Netware for $149. Please tell me I don't have to buy another license
(in addition to the Netware license) just to store files on the server for
daily backups. Thanks for any help.

NW6 includes native file access which will allow your macs to connect
using appletalk.

No need for a client license -- you need to deploy Native File Access --
and insure the Mac 'piece' is in place.

Best to follow up in the:

novell.support.os.server.native-file-access

newsgroup

Yes, but you have to have afptcp running. It cannot connect using NCP.
Start with the docs @ http://tinyurl.com/dqaz

How does one go about employing native file access. I have the mac name
space loaded on the volumes. I haven't turned on the appletalk protocol,
yet, but can't the mac connect using tcp/ip?

Thank you very much. That document is exactly what I needed. Why wouldn't
it show up when I did a search on Novell's sight? Thank again.

I imagine the search excludes documentation since it is searchable from
support.novell.com. I always go directly to
http://www.novell.com/documentation
