Hi all,
We have existing network with NW 4.11 server and 25 workstations.
Now we buy new server from Hewlett-Packard and we buy upgrade to SB6.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to install SB6 upgrade to new server without first
installing NW4.11 on it?
2. Is it possible to connect new server (with SB6 installed) to existing
network with old server with NW 4.11 to copy users directories and files to
the new server and after that disconect old server from network? In Setting
up Novell Small Business Suite is written:
"Novell Small Business Suite 6 supports multiserver environment where all
servers are running the same version of the Novell Small Business Suite
opearting system".
Thank you
Anton

Yes.

Yes. However, the easiest possibility would be to use the migration
wizard to completely migrate the old server to the new one.

That's only political support. Technically, there's no restriction at
all in SBS. It can even be installed into the same NDS tree with every
other full Netware version equal or higher than NW4.11.

You answer:

I read carufuly Migration Wizard documentation and I see that during
installation of SB6 I must select Pre-migration server. Then run Migration
wizard and migrate data from old server to new one.
I have new questions about thinks to do after migration:
1. Must I manually install IP protokol for new server?
2. Must I manually install all the products on new server (for example
Border Manager, Group Wize etc.)?
3. When can I find all the tasks that I must execute after the migration, to
have new server prepared with all Novell products like I install SB6 with
option "New server"?

Thank you
Anton

I would do it manually, yes. If the old server already had IP in use, it
makes sense to first install the NW6 server with a different IP in
pre-migration mode, complete the migration, change the IP to match the
old one, and finally install the post-migration stuff.

Yes.

You choose "Install" in the GUI, point it to the original OS CD, and
choose whatever product you want to install. After this is complete, you
reapply SP1.
Bordermanager, Zenworks and Groupwise are seperate installs.

Thank you for help, Massimo.
I have new question.
We purchase upgrade to SBS 6
I know that SBS6 includes two server licenses.
I plan to install new server with one of the licenses in new tree.
My old server is dual Pentium MMX 133 with 96 MB of RAM and IntranetWare
4.11 installed. Because of that I can not install SBS6 on it (system
requierments problem). My questions are:
1. Can I add old server to the new tree after installation of new server? Is
it permissible?
2. Must I reinstall IntranetWare 4.11 on old server to add it to the new
tree?

Thank you
Anton

My guess is no, but that is really a license question, not a technical
one.
