I'm running a mixed ip/ipx environment. I'm trying to move to ip only, but
I currently have on application that requires IPX. For the most part
everything works, but I have two or three users that consistently can't run
the app because they are connecting to that server via ip. It is a NW6 sp3
server, client 4.83 on windows xp.

So far the quick fix is to reboot a few times, and eventually I can connect
on said workstations with IPX. Is there a way to force this specific subset
of clients that use the app to connect with IPX?

Thanks

Oh, forgot to mention, it is...also frame type is defined as opposed to auto
detect, and the network number is defined. I even tried entered the default
server as the one they need to connect with IPX, only because sometimes if
youi look at the connections on the client, IPX will load from one of the
other servers, just not the correct one where the app runs....thanks!

If you are using WindowsNT/2000/XP you can't set preference of one protocol
over another. All protocols listed will be used and the first one to receive
a response from the server will prevail. If you want to ensure IPX connectivity
at all times, disable the name resolutions under Protocol Preferences | IP.
The only way to connect to a NetWare server when the name resolutions are
disabled is by using dotted.decimal notation instead of server names. IP
resource locator is also turned off when disabling name resolution.
