Does Novell have any plans to port Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) to NetWare? We have great success (mis)using it for application services redundancy in a WAN.

I highly doubt it but I'll ask .

I guess you have to wait for a Netware version running on a Linux
kernel. That way, you could use zebra ( www.zebra.org ).

Sounds nasty! :-)

It is - somewhat. We run a fully redundant DNS setup on FreeBSD using a VRRP port and Zebra/BGP. The solution can be applied to some other, but not all, network services. VRRP provides failover within a site and BGP provides failover and possibly shortest-route performance enhancement across sites, assuming you run your own AS using BGP. I plan to write an article about it and want to mention similar options for Linux, Solaris and NetWare. Seems to me the game cannot and will not be played on the latter.

Thanks to you and Edison for the feedback so far.
