Over the last couple of months I seem to be having problems with the
TCPIP dropping off on my email server and my proxy server. My email server
is an HP Proliant DL380 G3 running Netware 6.0 sp3, 6.41a and tcp607jrev2. I
run Groupwise 6.0 sp3 with Gwava 2.51. The other server is a Proliant DL380
G3 running Netware 6.0 sp3, 6.41a and tcp607jrev2. I run Bordermanager 3.7
SP2. Both these servers run for about two days and then drop off the TCPIP.
I can connect through IPX to the servers but can't ping them or any other
connection. I have to restart the server for them to recommunicate again. I
tried reinitializing using INETCFG but they have to be rebooted to regain
communications. If anyone can help it would sure be
appreciated.

Please download fconfig3.exe from the File Finder on
support.novell.com. Extract it into the SYSTEM directory and from the
console run Load Config /c. Post the resulting config.txt file from the
SYS:SYSTEM directory here, deleting your serial number and any public
IP addresses first. Ignore messages on the console about CLIBAUX.NLM.
Thanks.

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
;
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA. This would be
used
; when the DA was out of multicast range and DHCP was not being used to
; configure the DA.
; The static DA configuration format is as follows 'DA <addr type>,
<addr>'.
; The first word must be "DA". The addr type is the address type.
Currently, only
; IPV4 has been defined. IPV6 will be defined in the future. The addr is
; the address specified.
;
; The following is an example of a static DA.
; DA IPV4, 130.1.1.1
;
; The SA Register Filter would be used when the administrator wanted all
services
; of a specific service type being mapped to a single scope. For example,
; the administrator wanted all "lpr" printers being registered to scope
"printer".
; The format is as follows: 'REGISTER TYPE "<type name>" to SCOPE "<scope
name>"'.
; The parser will look for REGISTER, TYPE, and SCOPE as keywords followed
by quote on
; a single line. Example:
;
; REGISTER TYPE "lpr" to SCOPE "eng"
;
; The last line must contain a line feed and char return. A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.

Looks to me like some of your GW modules are on GW6Sp3 and others are not.
You need to get them all up to date from the same SP. This will probably
help your multiple GW abends.

>Q57.LAN v6.01 Feb. 14, 2003

Change this to the v6.04 B57.lan driver from Broadcom.

> [C:\CONFIG.SYS]

Change this to say:
Files=70
Buffers=70

>Client File Caching Enabled = ON

Smoking gun! Set this to OFF.

I changed out the LAN driver to B57.LAN version 6.04 May 12. 2003. My
server will still only run for about 18 Hrs. and then the TCPIP drops off.
Also after changing the driver I no longer can connect using portal. Should
I use the driver that ships with NW 6 SP4 Beta version ?

No need to restart the server - from the console unload/reload the Q57
driver, then reinitialize system.

I have similar but much less severe problem with DL380G3, NW5.1SP6 - main
file and print - it lasts 2-6 weeks between spasms.

Cheers, Mac

No, switch back. Did you implement all my other suggestions?

Ron Carter

Yes.
I also added the CHECKSUM=OFF to the netinfo.ini and set the netinfo.cfg to
0 value. Would switching the NICs to Intel MT 1000 Dual Cards help with this
problem.

Thanks Ron

If you can, I'd do that, IMO they are just better cards all round.

Thanks Andrew

I 've got two new Intel 1000MT dual cards and have installed them. The
server has been working now for about 2.5 days. Hopefully this will solve
the IP problems and when this seems resolved I will update my Groupwise to
Sp3 all the way.
Again Thanks for you help.
