onboard realtek lan on gigabyte motherboard

I am migrating a server from a motherboard that uses a pci lan card to a
motherboard with an onboard lan.
How do i find the parameters to set this up. The only way I have done this
is by using a slot number and ip address from the linksys pci card and that
doesn't apply here.

Rbarr8,

For an onboard chip, you will typically get a slot number above 10000.
However to see the actual slot number, you should try to manually load the
driver for the card without any command line options and it should suggest
valid slot numbers to you. You can then use the correct slot number for
your configuration.

The drivers I downloaded were rtssrv.lan and rtssrv.ldi
How do I load these drivers? I tried to run inetcfg, but get ???
Unrecognized command ???
I guess I don't need to tell you I am an amateur at Novell

I think that's the driver for their 100Mbit adapters. You need the
RTGBSRV.LAN and RTGBSRV.LDI files instead.

The best way to install the driver is to copy the 2 files (LAN and LDI) to
the SYS:SYSTEM directory of your server prior to moving to the new
motherboard.
In theory, after changing the motherboard, the hardware automatic
detection should then recognize your new drivers and load the appropriate
drivers.

Note that depending on your disk controller used, you might have to change
the load parameters of your disk driver as well, or your server might not
go far booting.

If you need more help, it would help us if you gave more information about
your server like:
- Netware versionin use
- Support pack version
- type of disks and disk drivers used
- ...

I have been unable to locate the drivers you refer to in your email. I have
tried both the drivers I listed and the drivers that came with the
motherboard to no avail.

Type VERSION at the server console and report what you see.

I get three colons on this server boot. At the colon I type version and get
Novell Netware 5.1 Server version 5.00h December 11,1999. What about
service packs? How do I tell if I am current or if I need to upgrade?

At the server console: LOAD NWCONFIG|Product Options|View Installed
Products. This should show you what, if any, Support Pack is
installed.
